Student Consumption and Perception of Caffeine Consumption on Campus A. Interest. 15/20 The general question struck me as kind of 'blah' -- not clear what anyone can do about the results of the survey -- but the research questions under part B seem more interesting. You can modify this motivation to be more in line with what you are actually curious about in B. B. Research Questions. 20/20 I like relating consumption to a number of external variables (which are outcomes that people might use to justify the caffeine). For question (g) I assume this is self-report of caffeine consumption. Comparing personal consumption to "normal/average" might be difficult (since students may not know what "normal/average" is). It might be easier to compare personal consumption to what the student desires: e.g. something like, "are you consuming more/less caffeine than you would like to or are comfortable with?" C. References. 10/10 Fine. Good that you are taking the survey in a slightly different direction, than previous survey work. 2. World Geography Knowledge: CMU vs Average Pittsburgh Residents A. Interest. 15/20 It is mildly interesting to see how good geographical knowledge of CMU students and/or Pittsburghers is. But why compare them? What action would anyone be motivated to take, based on that comparison? Again I like your questions a bit better than your motivation. B. Research Questions. 20/20 I like the idea of comparing knowledge with perceived importance (items c, d). C. References. 10/10 nice references. If you do this survey, you might consider adapting a form of the Roper questionnaire, and concentrating on doing an excellent job of sample design, data collection, analysis and writeup.
