A survey of CMU Student Exercise Habits A. Interest. 15/20 Possibly interesting. Note that a previous 303 survey focused on use of the UC's facilities so I like the idea of looking at exercise more broadly. No references or examples to back up claims: "exercise is ignored by the university", "college has a rep of poor athletics and out of shape students", etc. Make a stronger case that this survey is necessary! B. Research Questions. 15/20 good start. Additionally might ask about how motivated the respondent is, to exercise, and about anything that makes it easier or harder to exercise (time, location, avail of certain types of equipment / services / facilities, etc.) C. References. 5/10 No references on CMU exercise habits? Missing one reference (matt?) 2. Accuracy of Pittsburgh Bus Schedules around Carnegie Mellon A. Interest. 20/20 This has some interest for students using buses, and for PAT (the city transit authority). It's not clear if you intend to survey people to find their perceptions of bus schedule accuracy, or survey buses (i.e. stand at bus stops, measure arrival times, and compare with published schedule. I actually like surveying buses, bus stops, etc., for this, better than surveying people. Perhaps you could add a small sample of people to get some perception information, after you have done the bus/bus-stop survey. B. Research Questions. 20/20 This is a good initial set of questions, especially if you are surveying buses/bus-stops. C. References. 10/10 good set of references to start.
