READING FOR LECTURES MON FEB 1 AND WED FEB 3

On MONDAY I will concentrate on making and describing a scatter plot
On WEDNESDAY I will concentrate on computing correlations and 
  regression line formulas

Moore: Sections 5.2 and 5.4
  - the formulas and explanations here are excellent; the real-world
    examples are very good too

Siegel and Morgan: Sections 15.1 through 15.4
  - the pictures here are excellent; I also like how the ideas are 
    organized
  - please skip "testing the significance of a correlation" on pp.
    541-544; the material in Moore on pp 338-342 is more important
  - the formulas for a regression line on pp 548-549 are the ones 
    I'll use in class
