This is the data disk to accompany Siegel and Morgan, Statistics and Data Analysis, Second Edition, John Wiley and Sons.  It is organized into two subdirectories. labeled "Minitab" and "Wiley". 

The data sets in the "Minitab" subdirectory are distributed with Minitab, and are the property of Minitab, Inc.  The are used in the text with the permission of Minitab, and are included on this disk for convenience, so that the material required for the course in one place. The data sets in this subdirectory are in two formats, *.mtw  and *.por.  The *.mtw files are in Minitab IBM PC format. The *.por files are in MINITAB portable format, and should be readable by any Minitab system. 

The data sets in the "Wiley" subdirectory were compiled for this text book, and are to be used only in conjunction with the textbook.  In some cases the original data are copyrighted by others, as noted in the text.  This files  are being distributed in three formats: *.mtw, *.por, and *.dat. The *.mtw files are in Minitab IBM PC format. The *.por files are in MINITAB portable format, and should be readable by any Minitab system.  The *.dat files are ASCII text files, and should be readable by other programs.
