Xiaoyi Yang has been a Ph.D. student in the Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University since 2016. Before this, she studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double major in Math and Statistics, minor in Computer Science. Xiaoyi is interested in the application of Humanity and Social Science on Statistics, including Sociology, Literature, Education, and Sports. Her work is mainly on the development and improvement of methodology on real-life data and model. She is currently working on a network project to extract social networks from text data. Meanwhile, she is also working with CSAFE to analyze statistics requirements and resources for forensic science. Outside the academic work, Xiaoyi is a huge cat lover and a model collector.
