Collin is a Ph.D. student in Statistics, concurrently studying toward a M.S. in Machine Learning. Under the supervision of Larry Wasserman, his research currently focuses on the development of advanced statistical methods for the analysis of astronomical and cosmological data. His recent work involves using nonparametric methods to construct a 3D map of the intergalactic medium from the Lyman-alpha forest in quasar spectra. Before CMU, Collin received a B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Probability and Statistics from the University of Kansas. In his free time he enjoys distance running, reading, and traveling.
