• Strings:
  • The folks at StringsByMail have a great website and are very helpful online.
  • For steel strings, D'Addario EXPs (the 12's [bright, brassy bronze] and the 17's [mellower phosphor bronze]) are great medium weight strings. Sound good, last well.
  • I started playing Augustine nylon strings.
• What's that? Banjo's, you say?
  • The Gold Tone CC-OT is a decent student banjo (open back).
  • Kevin Enoch's basic banjo, the Tradesman, looks like an awfully nice upgrade. Soon there will be a Tradesman with an 11" pot.
